Why Do People Under Estimate Short Girls In band???

People always look at me and see a short gurl on a T-bone.During Pararde season people are surprised that I play it, then their astonished that I can actually blow. And two of the best snare drummers i kno are Short girls. So can some one tell me wuts up with that?

  • hey miniature t-bone...
learn now to make invisible all who doubt you and just smile when everyone else is awestruck !!!
ppl have pre-conceived ideas about who should play what instruments...
If God has gifted you with a t-bone...then do the doggone thing to the fullest!

from me... a 5' tall female BD who plays t-bone and all da drums!
  • It's not just short girls...it's girls period. When someone asks are you in the band, what the first instrument(s) they ask? Clarinet or piccolo or they ask if you're a flag or dancer. I played trumpet and used to get it all the time when I was in the band. Heck...i still get it when people find out I used to be in the band. All you can do is ignore what they have to say and the stereotype of females on anything but woodwind, and keep doin you and prove the haters wrong...
  • A. Fe know she dont got no haters

    B. if she did, she proved them right

    lol

  • we had a girl named shenita, she was the section leader her sr year, she was also a screamer. some of the other girls weren't good... most of the girls in our band were Woodwinds..
  • lol ur so right but i doubt they'd come at yo neck once u play great things come super tiny packages
    lol love ya cenay
  • Unfortunately, a lot of girls over the years came into band with the whole "I'm a girl. I can't do this/that. Don't be mean to me." mentality, which messes things up for the girls that are trying to be productive in the band. People then assume that females only play certain instruments, or always complain about small stuff.

    HOWEVER,

I've seen plenty of females that have run all-male sections, or even whole bands, and got the job done. So that myth is busted.

The other issue I'm seeing is dudes are now displaying those same traits that you'd assume girls had. In some bands, the girls are harder than the guys. Explain THAT nonsense...

I blame skinny jeans and Soulja Boy...
  • i blame Southern.. ..lol
