Why is it?

Why is it not cool to tell the truth? I have seen and heard Highschool bands on here and in person that sound like Trash. I mean straight up garbage truck juice. and then I see people saying how good they are and what a good job they are doing. I think this is mis-leading and contributing to poor musicianship. It is acceptance of low standards. As a director I have had students and parents come down on me for telling the truth....."You Suck"...but maybe not in those words....and In the same breath I tell them but if you listen you can get better. But to me people can't take constructive advice. So If you love our community and you care stop lying to each other. TELL THE TRUTH. If someone has BAD breath and you tell them ohh your breath is good dog....you are lying and they will not address the issue.

SO Please STOP STOP STOP.

Pride......scared to step on their toes....scared they wont say their band sounds good when they really sound trashy.

Without constructive criticism, not repetitive bashing, how will your program and HBCU programs continue to grow and get better? Nobody is perfect, but we imperfectly strive to be perfect.

As there is no clear discernment between News and Commentary in the News Media, there is No Clear Discernment between Truth and Bias in the Internet Band Community.

Its the sensitivity. To kids, if you aint telling them what they want to hear, they wont listen. Some just get discouraged and quit most just dont care. Apathy has struck the nation's youth. Half of the kids dont practice because being in the band seems to be an unwanted burden to them. When someone tells them they dont sound good, in their minds its like " ok, i dont need to be in the band anyways". These kids are just soft mentally. You think its bad now? wait and see what happens in 5 more years.

I'm so glad that our band director told the freshmen that they needed to practice more so they won't make us sound trashy. And eventually they practiced and some of them got better. A WHOLE LOT BETTER

Fellings get hurt

Cant handle the truth

Quits the band
