  • I like a Trumpet heavy sound  but I'd up the number of Baritones to 18 at most if i had 50 Trumpets LOL
  • I rather have the 50 trpts and 26 Btones! lol I perfer a darker sound over the bright but need the trumpet sound to.
  • i like the darker sound myself also... i would go wit a more balanced number like 40 trumpets 20 baritones....
  • I like 3 to 1 36 trumpets equals 12 btones. 50 trumpets =18 btones.
    • I like this
    • ... and there u have it folks
  • Out of the two, 50 tpets and 10btones that are bringing the pain. I hate the sound of overbearing btones. with 50 trumpets, all you need are about 15 STRONG btones. People don't realize how heavy the sound of a btone carries over a trumpet
  • 50 trumpets and 10 btones can work and i would prefer that. Btone is a strong instrument anyway, if all btones are on point you will definitely hear them. GSU, SU, JSU has had 10 btones years but you still heard them, just a few years ago SU and JSU had small btone sections but they were still strong. 50 trumpets is a great number and the solid sound of trumpets is lacking in many bands. It depends also on how one arranges. If the btones play in unison most times then 10 is good but if the arranger puts them on multiple parts then you would probably need more btones to really be get your point across. 34 trumpets and 26 baritones is very unbalanced and you would hear nothing but baritone.
    • you made a very valid point in this statement......

But what I am tired of seeing is, in high school bands non-existing baritone or trombone... most have either or due to a lack of feeder schools being diverse when it comes to students picking or directors placing students on an instrument. This will come to hinder the college ranks in the sound they are striving for eventually.

      • The lack of teaching in the middle schools and the lack of middle school programs is hurting high school and college programs.
