I grew up attending the Turkey Day Classic and ATL Classic, and I would watch HBCU football games on BET just for the bands. Bands have always excited me; however, over the past few years that excitement has started to slip away. I have watched clips of just about every HBCU band from back in the days. Most of the shows were intense (10 mins of marching, playing, and dancing). Now most shows are around 7 mins long, and it’s all about who has the biggest band, who has the finest dance line, and who plays the loudest (sounds the worst with all that overblowing). We are headed into week 4 and I have not seen a memorable halftime show yet. <Please point me in the direction of one>. It could be the prevalence of internet clips or the fact that everyone plays the same songs and does the same dances in their routines. IDK. {Kanye Shrug}

we deal with expectations that everything will be great by game one. there's no excitement due to over exposure and high demand.
I agree spot on.
I agree.

I'm loving Albany State right about now!
I credit this to the advance in technology. Nowadays, everybody has a cameraphone and can record the bands and put them on facebook. As the years went by, we demanded greater and greater bands...to the point now where even the greatest shows EVER won't move us.
It's the technology
That's true about the technology.
