  • I like SU very polished, clean, style. I can tell the differences in a Dr. Greggs Band, from this one. I like how the new director is putting his unique spin on the unit.

@SU Jags 84. Yeah you right, but a lot of HS music programs, especially in the N.O. area have fallen off, and don't teach music. They just teach kids how to play whole notes and half notes as loud as they can. It would be great if SU and GSU could make some sort of alliance to help these HS directors from schools that they mainly get their kids from what the directors at GSU, SU, and other colleges are looking for in their future musicians (reading music, discipline, grades, etc), and then help the directors tailor they programs as such.

  • @damar  I'm sure if you were blind-folded and someone told you this wasn't JSU, you'd have a different opinion. But carry on
  • I have to agree with Charles and RJ ..
  • yo jsu shit sound so unbalanced they sound very sloppy imo just sound like a bunch of ppl playing together not a band
  • they got them new horns and still ainrt doin nuthin as for the camera man in the same place....and u alls arrangments are so open ......FULL VALUE....so i dont know how u all fell bout this battle butt u see how i do \

  • Yeah, its obvious that Mr. J. and staff is focusing more on playing more college level arrangements. I like that direction, in the long run its gonna draw only high schools kids that can play. SN: I have to admit that the boom sounding way better this year based on these clips I'm hearing. I hear a  more balance and controlled sound.
  • Charles i agree. SU seems to be focused more now on technique and their level of difficulty in their music has increased, power is automatic with SU because of the make up of their band and the structure of the arrangements so i don't blame them for not allowing the power card be their main focus. SU is playing some serious music. Just my opinion.
  • @Charles...I said the same thing last night, you hit the nail on the head homie. But SU was still coming across that field pretty strong!
  • SU is blowing...but..theyre ACTUALLY playing some very idiomatic stuff at JSU and JSU is answering with power. (JSU has better arranging than last year going on) but SU isn't even playing a power game with them...they're putting skill across that field(minus the sousas....cannot hear them on these clips).
  • and SU got new tubas... damn...
