  • Prof my name is Frank Lewis and I'm a high school band director here in New Orleans and I have Pyware v5 about to upgrade to v7 hopefully this week.

I'm lost, I did the tutorial in the pyware manuel and it didn't help me at all. Yes if I wanted to go crop style it's nice, but I'm showband so it did nothing for me,lol.

I saw you drills that are on bandhead and it is what I want to do. Pinwheels, downfield drills, off the sidelines, step twos, step fours, groups of fours, you know what we do. Please help me do this, I can tell this is a powerful tool if I can get it down.

    Thanks,
    Frank Lewis 111

  • I use Pyware Professional version drill design software to lay out my ideas I use the music from my arranger in midi form and import it into the drill program. this drill took me about 7 hours to make including the On field entrance which is not shown in this video. I have over 20,000 Drill templates in my collection for any size band from 32 to 240. I can also write Drills for larger or smaller bands by modifying my existing templates. I can also animate a drill from a live performance. I would give a novice drill writer with this program about a week to finish a show from beginning to end. This program can do almost any move that you can conceive of on the field: Pin wheels, spins, FTL( Follow The Leader),MT, FM,Step Twos, Step Fours, Block Movement, Lineargraphics, Precision Line Movement, etc. However my issue is that I would like it to differentiate between Stacking to the line and Pick Up (in 8)when you move from Slants. Right now I have to use the "morph" tool to get the job done until Pyware fixes that issue. Using the Morph Tool is very time consuming, if I didnt have to use that tool it would cut my time in half. The tool requires moving each individual to the spot you want them to go instead giving the entire squad a command. When I teach the drill I have to tell my band Stack or Pickup based on what kind of look I want to achieve on the field. If you have more specific question please ask and Ill post a video tutorial on this site
