Only one purple and gold... other schools have came an they have gone.... but three numbers that shall always stay is "100".... the Aug... so easton and any other violators do the city a favor and keep it 100 an change the colors... or stop being scared and roll up on the Aug... i have a year book from 04-05 when Easton's band consisted about 20 guys. and there band colors were not purple and gold.... lets pay homage to Kennedy "K"... who help it down for public schools before katrina.. Easton was unheard of.. who has traveled the country and played for numerous presidents and major parades in New York and other places, and even played for the pope... St. Aug has...! Easton have you??? (crickets chirping). all we ask is get new colors and chants... and have some self respect... you guys are far from a bad band.. your actually pretty good.. but at the end of the day you should know who is the original... and im tired of "uniforms were donated, so we dont have a choice"... you do now... its 5 plus years after that donation... CHANGE THEM!!... Easton just like every other band will be in my prayers... god bless,,, RiCO class of '11... 4 Horsemen..

Actually in 1898 the school's colors—purple and gold—were chosen for the school called Boys High which was really established in 1845 and was located at Constance and Gaienne Streets. When Warren Easton was opened on Sept. 22, 1913 the new school adopted the colors and students of Boys High. I don't think he was talking about the colors, because A LOT of schools share those colors. I think he was talking more about style, those uniforms, identity, being unique. He have to put things in prospective. The greatest compliment is to pattern yourself off what you think to be the best. Just as what "Doc" of Southern did with our drills. And I quote "Today, many bands practice precision drilling. But Hampton did it first and the best, says Isaac Greggs, who for 34 years has been the acclaimed band director at Southern University. "I am a precision genius," Greggs says, "but I got into it because I saw St. Augustine." Yes Southern even the great "S" was pattern around St. Aug. So you see Easton you are in good company. When you say Purple and Gold I personally think of LSU, but when you add marching band at the end of that its all St. Aug Marching 100. The most consistent program since 1952. We have seen them come and go, but St. Aug. is forever.
