  • While I don't entirely agree with you, I will admit that your band did show improvement this year and that I'm sure they will only get better in the future.  Good luck.
  • I will say that at least you know that your own front door is dirty, my fellow north Mississippian, lol....As far as Doc and your thoughts on him...I will say wat I always say...Larry J. Pannell is not the one in the stands or on the field. If you look at the past ten years, yes, they have been rather inconsistent, but the fact is, Doc was only the director....not the performers....focus on field performance has been our central thing, and it has yet to fail. As far as stands, there have been issues in the PAST was well....before his time even....that doesnt mean he was entirely the blame...the decline of Grambling is slowly being reversed, beginning with this past season. The drive is stronger, and it's due to striving for years like 81, 64, and 03....we have done several things currently....we continue to MAKE HISTORY...not just live OFF OF HISTORY....SN: OB huh? lol
  • First of all, any comments I've made here have never been about the history of any band espically Grambling's. Any negative comments I've had on GSU has always been about the current state of marching band.  You can go on about the history and legacy of the World Famed Marching Band and how much you know about it (which I'm confident you do), but that's just the problem.  It's history!  The current band is inferior compared to most college marching bands (from what I've seen online, in person, and on TV) and that is the fault of currant band director who has yet to prove to me that he's qualified to be high school band director, let alone a college band director.

Second of all, I have NEVER stated that JSU's program was better then it was in the past, RJ.  If anything, I would have said their band has declined as well.  Nevertheless, that doesn't change the fact that GSU needs to be under new direction.

  • I'm sorry but JSU sounds no where near they used to, their focus is just blowing loud azz hell to try to match SU. They changed their entire concept for another program and let's not get on drilling, so one shouldn't throwing stones in a glass house even though their stuck in denial and really think their program is better than it was in the 80's and 90's an i'm not smacking. Carry On and enjoy the footage without the hate.
  • I won't dare disrespect my craft...especially that 81 crew....which went to Tokyo that same year and missed the Bayou Classic to do it.....(little history)...easily one of the if not the best edition of the World Famed yet.....but that was just on the field....we are a field band....lol...try again....
  • U tell me what u know about Grambling...past and present...and I can take u to school.....
  • First off....don't dis Doc like that...the man has his Doctorate...u get yours....secondly....in our own ways...we have advantages over the other band....they admit it...in many ways...they are better than us....but again...field shows....like then....nobody can touch us on field....back then people tried...now it's like no contest cause not many bands besides us try. We still house out on field...u can act like u know about Grambling....but I'm the band's historian for the past year for a reason....
  • Antonio, you're fooling yourself because the main difference in GSU's sound is the band director.  Dr.Mr. Parnell is an incompetent director and doesn't hold a candle to the previous GSU band directors and it has shown the past few years.  If you honestly think that the quality of sound is the same now as it has been in the 80's and the 90's, then you are either in denial or an idiot.

  • Boy hush....Our field presence is still the same. The sound of today's band is just as strong without the organs on the field. Not a knock on our history, because I love it. Understand this band is still the same. It was hot then, but today the game has changed. What worked then ain't so hot now...we had to modernize in ways....but on field...for all the talk u doin who can touch us? I'll wait....if u say anything besides SU and FAMU...u foolin yoself.....

  • Is it possible to bring back Dr. Hutchnson as a zombie to direct the GSU band.  He would still be 10x better then who they have now.
