altosax yea cause i have to school this dude man cause people always talking bout SU just being powerful like them dudes dont sound good too, i been listening to SU for over 10yrs now, they slow songs sound good and are powerful and in u can hear their woodwind section, now u cant hear them when they cranking but on slow songs u can and GSU is not on these people level, now i give props they sound good but do get SU u need more then just sounding good, go ask FAMU last yr what happen in atl
also listen all the things SU played by joe and if only u knew by patti and joy and u would see that u can be powerful and still sound good
Man it kills me when people think power can not sound good, u mean to tell me that just because a band is mellow and the other is powerful that the mellow band will automatically sound better? and that is another myth bout SU band just cause they play them powerful doesnt mean it doesnt sound good have u heard two hearts, have u heard next life time, have u heard something in my heart?? and u can also hear the woodwind section in all those songs i just mention, in something in my heart u can even hear flutes! man it kills me how people talk shit bout SU with their heart but not with their ears, SU play alot of their slow songs in levels, so there might be a part of the song where the btones take over then the btones would drop so u can hear the trumpets, then the trumpets might rest so u can hear the woodwind section....i know these things cause i listen with my ears and i know for a fact that SU have a great balance of power, mellow and clearity on there slow songs, they all not just power go listen to those songs i just mention without a bias heart and u would see for urself homie!
tony GSU isnt built to play rap songs homie, they sound much better when they play mellow slow songs...rap songs are meant to have power and played in octaves that isnt GSU and when they try to play like that it doesnt fit them and they dont sound as good compared to when they play slow mellow songs, they can play the hell out those! when a cranking band go against a mellow band it almost always favorite the cranking band, cause while they sending that heat across the field u cant come back with something mellow man, the crowd would be disppointed and also it will make that band seems like they dont have a come back so they have to slow it down or play real mellow, that is why band that play mellow against each other is more of a battle cause u want to show that u can play more in harmony and sound better, so that is why to me bands that have similar styles would do better matching up against each other, SU is one of the more diverse bands cause they can play mellow and slow songs and then powerful and uptempo songs, when GSU try to do that, they are not good at that
tony soo are u saying that SU dont play any slow songs at the battle of the bands, are u saying they play all rap where u been? and my point is that GSU is more of a harmony type band which means they specialize more in slow songs and SU is more of a cranking type band which they specialize in uptempo and volume type songs, so they are totally different, so my point is that GSU would do better battling bands on their style more like FAMU cause when u bring a knife to a gun fight u will get murk!
Both bands sound very good! It seems like JSU came to Battle with some heavy hittin songs. That Groove With You was a Beast! I was waiting on GSU to come with some Fire, but those ballads put us to sleep. Seems Like you're Ready was extra long.(didn't sound bad tho) Overall I enjoyed myself. Both Halftimes were good also, especially the Boom w/ the new Tiger Run On. I was Entertained by The Boom a little more than GSU on this day. Big ups to GSU tho. 53-17 looked pretty good also lol.
