yeah, you right about that. Man James and Faron IRONED US OUT that summer! All we did was practice ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!! lol, but 07 was a real good squad.
Cookman, for example, man i remember meeting up with them in 2004 in Ohio and 2007 in Miami and their drum majors do so much J5 stuff but they say they didn't copy anyone. Smh
Man it's crazy. I've seen alot of college and hs band's dmjs and you'd be surprised at the JSU influence all over the south, midwest and east coast. Then cats try and argue with me on how their style is not a modified JSU. I'm like dog, anything that looks like the moves "shaw," "dominique," "funkies," etc are ours. I KNOW THE CATS PERSONALLY WHO CREATED THE MOVES BACK IN THE LATE 70's!!! If your style came after that, which alot of them came after 2000, chances are someone saw J5. lmao
LOL I feel u on that one.. I just watched some videos of yall man.
I wish i could record this stuff... Bruh.. too many people try to copy what JSU does (in an outside of band) and dont realize how much work yall put in to do what yall do..
Typical "my dmj/band got slaughtered by J5/Sonic Boom so now I'm SOUR ABOUT IT" comment lmao. Man if we marched cross yall campus, i bet I'd have AT THE LEAST 3 TXSU females waiting at my bus shooting me their number. (its happened before)
LOL yeah. this was the year Avery, me and my cb Kevin (dude in the video), made it. We trained all the way from January to tryouts in April...then that Monday we started for squad lol. Practicing in the summer from 6p.m.-UNTIL (usually bout 10:30, plus weight training during the day for about 2 hours. It takes alot. No jobs/girlfriends/distractions. Band was our girlfriend LMAO. Alot of DEDICATION and PRIDE goes into the Jackson 5.
and we also learn how to conduct during the spring training from Jan-mid April. Conducting along with the moves gets polished if you make squad during summer training from June all the way up until band camp in August.
