We caught the "Sonic Boom" marching band entering Mississippi State's stadium on 9/5/09 and had to take some video. Best band we've ever seen! (youtube comment) ..lol

Yes Gene it does make sense for the people on the field to have the full uniform. But regardless if members of the band are alternates or not, they still march in block band with the rest of the band while marching in. It is highly tacky to have band members in formation that dont have the full uniform on i.e. gloves spats plooms hats, different uniforms.
Plooms and other items such as spats must be ordered during the spring semester or over the summer in abundance so that no matter how many people come to be in the band in august there will be enough to accompany the members of the band.
Look the reason why they dont have plooms is because we ran out there are more people in the band from last year so that be likely to happen. The ones that didnt have a ploom were the ones who were alternates on the field. Makes sense for those who were on the field to have a ploom right.
