  • still could barely here myself but its better than the last time

  • @BJ Not like it used to though. If it wasn't for Katrina, SU, GSU, TxSU, JSU and MVSU would all probably be a lot larger in size than they are now. Its the same thing with all ATL colleges and even FAMU and Cookman. If the pride was still there, all these college bands would still be large in numbers. I doubt FAM would be bigger but Cookman might be lol. 35 to me has the most pride out of any band in NOLA because for the past 2 years, I think the program has been ran entirely by the students in the band. Now that is a pure definition of dedication and maturity.

@Avery But also when you look at LLI, it all depends on how many people come out. They could be back on next year for all we know. Im just glad I got to experience it before I leave for college. The band is mainly made of Juniors and underclassmen though so if yall all stay, LLI will continute to improve and rise as yall better yallselves as musicians.

  • @Vphstubadawg2k12 if it takes 5 years to build a good program, LLI wont be completely restored until my senior year, but at least i will get to see it grow

  • yep but its gud too see N.O has pride i respect dat

  • lol I know man. Morris Brown fell off cause, expecally inside the tunnel for Honda, they were a dawg and they were large in numbers. I was watchin a recent clip from them the other day and they sound good its just they small for a college band. I kinda hope the same thing for ATL high schools as well man. Cause I mean you look at Pebblebrook a few years back and Pebblebrook from now, them boys fell off bad. And I also agree they all need more aggression.

  • ok thats cool man you canalmost say the same for ATL SCHOOLS but the dnt start marching till the 8th grade and idk if there is any more pride in our schools i just pray that they can fix it cuz morris brown was ATL big thing ack in the day too be motivated  and it seem like only atlanta all star band is gonna have too show all schools in the metro area the dedication it  takes too be in the marching band so i really dnt have nuthin agaisnt N.O schools i just wish ATL ands had that aggression like my and did bck in the day

  • and Im sorry for replyin with paragraphs of info with shid you prolly already know lol

  • Pretty much man. Its gonna take a lil minute though. I heard from Dr. Punnel (Director of Bands for GSU) It takes at least 5 years to really build a program into a dawg, and you have to hope that every person that enters is dedicated to learning the craft and will stick with it. Otherwise, its just a waste of time to attempt to rebuild. I mean like for instance with NOLA high schools, OP Walker was on top for the longest time after Katrina, but they never really improved. Thats why St Aug has taken that top spot from them. A constant circulation of dedicated individuals and plus they startin them at a young age cause they march 6th-12th grade students. So the majority of these youngsters are gonna be pretty good come their freshman year. Idk if it would be the same situation with the ATL bands though because thats just the case (I would think) of a dawg with a few down years. Shid but after those few down years, them boys will come back strong believe me. Same thing happened to St Martinville High (from around the south central Louisiana area), shid you can even in a way use LLI as an example, because (in LLI's case) they just restarted the program last year I think. They didnt come back as strong as they were in prior years but it's getting there slowly but surely. And in the high schools case, SMHS had a couple of down years, but these boys were wreckin shid this year. It just takes time and dedication, and that is something some of these young kids dont understand lol. And I say it like im old lol...Im jus a senior in hs.

  • i agree man i just feel that i think everybody tryna get too were it use too be

  • Columbia and Redan were two of my favorite ATL bands back in the day. Columbia was a dawg Im not even gonna lie. SWD has a beautiful sound. I never really listened to MLK or Lithonia though. Believe me, I know the rebuilding process and losing pride in the band all too well. Shid my school went from 60 strong in '07 and its been on a constant decline all the way down to 15 last year. Shid we were good though from '07-'10. Shid we might not even have a band next year. And shid look back at the 70s-93, shid prolly into the early 2000s, this same band was rollin around 135-200 throughout those years. It jus disappoints me to see bands fall off like that. Same case with the K, Reed, 35, Carver, and several others in NOLA, but of course that was due to natural disaster, but still some of those bands are pretty much in the same predicament because it has been years since it happened if you think about it.
