  • Assuming that the band ISN'T travelling to Alabama State this week, that'll give the band TWO weeks to prepare for homecoming. Yall are REALLY gonna disappoint a lot of people if yall run the EXACT same show again...for the third time...in the span of about two months.

And get off that "what's done in the past is passed" bit! We ALL know that! That's why our expectations are so high. We want the band to be better than what was known in the past. But it sounds like you (as well as A LOT of current members) don't want to acknowledge your history and learn from it.

Change is inevitible, but you still gotta know and respect your history. Otherwise you'll end up possibly warping the reputation that those before you (before us) have built for the Storm AND the S.O.S...

During our band days, the alumni would come and do the exact same thing that the alumni are doing now. Nothing has changed in that aspect...and I'm certain that it won't change after all of you graduate.

You'll see what I'm talking about when you get there...
  • Look...nobody is trying to bring the band down right now. It isn't about that. Last year, the band DIDN'T have the luxury of time on their side. Matter of fact, the week before the PV/GSU game, didn't the band travel to LA for the PV/Morehouse game, and probably a week before that, have to perform at the LDC? Time wasn't on your side last year, so folks were probably more forgiving. This year however, yall had 3 weeks to prepare. Nobody said that the show was bad...and you could probably argue that the show was only performed ONCE prior to the GSU game. But folks (ESPECIALLY alumni) are expecting more out of yall. We know that there are SOME things that the bandmembers themselves can't help, but that doesn't change our expectations. So spare the excuses.
  • I guess I'll close it out like this.....We all know PV rarely changes shows during the year....maybe a couple of things here and there..... but that's just "PV Tradition" .....Stick To What Works....so to address your point.....NO ONE expected yall to change your show last year....because we know PV just don't do it...It's just not expected...But I guess the BIG point you're missing is that.... never in my history of marching in the band have we ever had the LUXURY of 3 CONSECUTIVE WEEKS OFF......and furthermore, I don't think any other SWAC band has had that luxury either....so as supporting Alumni ....we were kinda anticipating a slighty different/ more impactful show.....since yall did give us a Great Show for LDC.... and with the 3 WEEK LUXURY..... We all just knew that time would have been spent ADDING new parts to Half Time....And delivering a better show ..Not trying to get into a internet War of Words ...becasue that's not my flavor.....Just letting yall know as an Alumni ...I expect more from my band....considering the time yall had
  • but you missed my point here....last yr there werent n e kind of comments about our show and we literally did the same show the entire yr...n now that we have become apparent to many other bands eyes you find something else to complain about..i mean yea we had 3 wks to change tha show but we chose to work on other things that the Profs felt was more important. But, the comments yall make are your opinions and yalls choices to feel towards tha band.

oh n btw...wat yall did in the past doesnt always work for the future or present...band was a totally different era at that time. So, you cant compare wat you guys did to wat we do now.
  • To "Undeniable Interest"......we're noy trying to bring any one down....especially with the way band sounds this yr....Yall actually sound better than any band in the SWAC right.... I haven't heard yall, excuse me, us sound this good PERIOD.....all I'm saying and what other former alumn is saying.....is yall had 3 wks of no performing.....that 3wks should have been used wisely

    EXAMPLES
1.Could have came with different drum ft. or at least a different version of it
2.New song for the "Black Fox" routine
3.A new dance routine (I see yall added a new horn dance routine, but what happened to the rest of it?)

But just as PVSax99 said.....we had to do all these things in 1wk before LDC....yall had 3wks to give the crowd something new.....not say trash the entire show.....but ADD something to it......other than a new horn dance.
  • I find it SOOOOO hilarious that the yr PV starts to come up everybody (including its alumni) has to find some way to try to bring it back down. ALL these same comments about PV doing the same show is ridiculous. Last yr we did the EXACT same show the ENTIRE yr but nobody had n e thing to say about that. But, anyway, to all my fellow CURRENT band members of the Marching Storm, I believe I can say I'm proud of what we did this past weekend.
  • Same here K-Lee 3weeks off u should have new feat. new dance new songs da works !!!!!!!!
I need to see something new homecoming feel me !!!!!!
  • 1. Prairie View has a pretty good sound on the field. I like the arrangement on "All I Do"
    2. The BOX has a nice aggressive bottom.
    3. With 3 weeks off, I expect to see sum fresh ideas. Not very "college-like'.
    4. What is the point in featuring a pit that u cant hear?
    5. It seems as though the announcer didnt know the show in its entirety. Too much ad-libbing going on

I honestly wanna give major props, but there are no grounds for it. You guys have 3 weeks off, and obviously squandered the useful time. PV has the POTENTIAL to dominate! At least the sound is still good. Props on that!
  • As for the "Nike Check" (The "V"), Lord knows how many hours we spent focusing on getting that "V" straight!!!! LOL
  • This show was decent, at best....simply because it was the exact same show that was done THREE WEEKS AGO. Kinda makes me wonder what the Storm was doing during the 3 weeks off. The sound is very good, and I still like the idea of the BOX kinda making an attempt to incorporate a pit in the feature...but up until the dance routine, it was the EXACT same show that was done during the LDC. Hopefully, the band comes with something different for Homecoming in TWO WEEKS.

And for the record, it shouldn't take the Storm to learn a brand new show. It SURE shouldn't take them THREE WEEKS to get it done either. It's been done before, with MUCH LESS time.

~Remembers when we had to get our ENTIRE act (halftime show, music, teaching freshmen and re-teaching upperclassmen from scratch) together for the LDC in ONE WEEK (no band camp in 2000)~

    So that excuse is invalid.
