The Mighty Sound of the South considers itself as the best of both worlds. Yeah, we're a corps band at a PWC, but we're downright "hood" (or as hood as our band could possibly be) when we're in the stands. We cheer on our teams, pump up our fans, and MOST OF ALL, we have FUN while we're doing it all. So, for all of those who watch this clip, judge us, and dismiss us as "trash" as it has been done many times before on sites like this, just know that we are very diverse and have an appreciation for what other band, like yours, do. So GET OFF OUR NUTS!!!!! We recieve the same type of criticism from bands like Texas & Michigan because we're not the "prim, proper, and pretty" corps band that they are. We have carved our own identity as a diverse band for a diverse population with one goal: to provide entertainment that will reach a broad & diverse group of people with quality music performed by excellent, young, spirited & talented musicians.

    Sectional fanfares (with the exception of tags) should NEVER have a percussion section backing it up. That is exactly what the "prim, proper, and pretty" corps bands in my area do.

    I marched for Douglas Byrd high school back in its prime. (Pre 2008) We established ourselves as the "HOODEST" corps style band in our area and I have yet seen any corps style high school or college achieved the level that we have. Our main goal was never to "pump up the fans" or "cheer on our team." Our goal was to shut the other school's band DOWN and OUT. Showbands even had the urge to challenge us at games and parades.

    If more bands have that killer instinct that I like to have, then I believe that they'll have a lot more fun than just "entertaining" the crowd.

    do yall have any clips of yall playin in the stands? cause, not to knock this, but this was just a tuba fanfare with percussion behind it.....
