    It means you're gettin' over; Not pulling your weight; Fakin' the funk; Posing; Writing a check with your mouth that your horn can't (or doesn't currently) cash; etc... get the idea?

    I believe these gentlemen are referring to the fact that you (the trumpet player) didn't finish the phrase... I could be wrong though.
