Let me ask you one thing? If SU was so great, and I am guessing that they are headed by an SU grad now, why don't they sound anything like this? I mean, aren't they carbon copies of each other, SU grads that is? So, my conclusion is that they may have gottem their undergrad degrees from SU but a majority of their creative genius was developed in grad school..Its good that SU gave them a good foundation but I hardly think SU had anything to do with the advanced skills they have now...Furthermore, those SU grads walked into a great band program that had a solid foundation established by Emery Fears...Alumni that would not let their program go down when an as!@#$ took over and almost ran it into the ground after two years of Mr. Fears retirement...Those SU grads knew they had walked into a very supportive environment to achieve what they had always dreamed of, creating a band that not only got the respect and attention in the HBCU world but the general populace all together...Because Mr. Fears saw something in Paul Adams (NSU's arranger) that set him apart from other arrangers years ago, he had him write NSU's signature song "BEHOLD"...What I am saying, is that its good to promote your program but don't for a minute think that just because something is being led by an SU grad that SU had everything to do with how successful a program is...Just because you may have never heard of NSU years ago because they wern't doing commercials like FAMU and Grambling, that they weren't wrecking shop on the East Coast with Emery Fears...Trust me, they would have taken alot of the so called "great bands from the South" out many years ago...SU had nothing to do with that!!!!
but at the end of the day! their base is Southern University, which they spent 4 years of training ! no matter how you cut it boo! Go JAGS! now if only they can teach them how to put the score on the field! LMAO!
