@ArthurF. Come on man! Walker is the last band that needs to talk about playing the same part with the way their mello section helps out their weak trumpet section--mello is the new trumpet over there. Ok it is true, in a lot of St. Aug "original" songs the trombone and b-tone sec play the same part, but can u seriously sit up here and call that cheating? I call it a good arrangement if you have to make excuses like that, because it certainly wasn't cheating for the Great St. Aug bands that played the same arrangements.
I can't agree w yu on that..I'm not Gonna take anything frm the aug, but look at their arrangements. Like their btones n tbones play the same parts on most songs, really do they even have ppl playn 1st,2nd, or mayb even 3rd.if so they wouldnt be half as loud as they were
I got to agree with everyone else on this forum. Much props to Walker for their W in Alla. But I attended every other parade both Aug and Walker was in, and I got to say that consistently night in night out-Aug was the top dawg this Mardi Gras. They delivered even on days/nights when they marched in more than one parade. I was there for Alla, and I will admit, that if Aug would have been in concert formation-it would be a unanimous SWEEP of the whole Mardi Gras 2011 in favor of AUG!
The aug does sound good, no one Neva said they didn't. All we was sayn is that walker got the best of them on that day. F*** walker had their mess-ups too nah.
No disrespect to Walker and their W in the Alla battle, but after listening to this and the clip of St. Aug playing "In the Stone", I think its safe to conclude that if St. Aug would've gotten into concert formation the Alla discussion would be very different, because these dudes are seriously BLOW-IN!!! But u know what they say, "coulda, shoulda, woulda", its irrelavent now.
