Just being in front of both bands I have to say that I love this battle. I love SU style of play, but I don't think it's a good fit for immature players. With that said I hear alot of notes being punched out by Walker baritones without all of the supporting cast. It think St. Aug. sound more full. The arrangments seem to compliment their level of musicians. From what I can see St. Aug. got the first two W's. Will there be a 3rd?
I was out there for this Sunday and I must say both of these bands are evenly match overall no separation from either band in this brief lil battle, .If you like St.Aug or Walker thats your preference and who you are going to side with but other than that these 2bands are equal .This is how a classic N.O. battle should be anyway .A TOSS UP
OK I WAS @ THE BATTLE....U HAD TO B THEIR....NO TIE OR NOTHING WAS INVOLVED...ST AUG WON THE BATTLE HANDS....ST AUG WAS GONNA PLAY CRUSH AFTER WALKER PLAYED PARTY BUT THE POLICE TOLD THEM TO STOP AND ST AUG HAD TO LINE UP!!!!!!!!!
I Give it a Tie.. Both bands were impressive and Definitely held their ground.. Kinna reminded me of the Old Kennedy and St Aug battles, only less powerful and Intense.
I was at this battle, and it was windy and 37 degrees outside.Everything sounded a bit flat out there. Anyway St.Aug, when it comes to actual skills and sound I go with the Aug. Their lower brass was way louder than walker. Trumpets playing with dynamics. Though I can say Walker bought that power similar to SU. The Color guard battle, something that didn't make it on this video. Well I say these little kids had me joked out...and said Walker guards won that. They said "look at the things Walkers Color guards do.. its so cool and tight... Man St. Aug Color guards boring"... I was like LOL.. but it was fun. Rawlings was on the hunt for the Aug as soon as they got off the bus.
Overall good job to both I'm a walker alumni I feel like walker was winning until party they lost points I give the w to st aug I'm happy no one got smashed like last year it was a close battle all the way through
