  • This was my first time time attending a DCI competition. I enjoyed myself. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay past the Blue Coats (I know I missed a large portion of the top tier *smh*...that program was a lot longer than I anticipated and I originally just came to see a member of my section compete w/ Phantom Regiment) but I did get a good idea of what DCI has to offer. The show that stuck out the most in my mind was Madison Scouts'. That show was really creative and the performance was outrageous. I'm looking forward to checking them out again whenever I can.

...I would like to note that, after experiencing the culture known as DCI, I feel that comparison is really unneeded between them and ANY Collegiate/academically integrated musical organization (not just HBCU marching bands), because there are key variables that make the two in different catagories. I appreciate DCI for what it is, but I don't desire for my or any other school to mold itself after a corp. However, the fundamentals of their performance was a very good lesson that any musician can learn from.

I'm proud of my brother and I can say that Morehouse (Yes, Morehouse) was represented well, in a top tier corp that night. Peace and blessings to all.
