Tribute to Brandon Franklin 1987 - 2010Talented, spirited, and generous, Brandon Franklin excelled as a drum major at New Orleans' George Washington Carver High School. Band director Wilbert Rawlins helped Franklin form The To Be Continued Brass Band, now one of the best second line bands in New Orleans, and Rawlins hired Brandon to be his assistant band director at O. Perry Walker High School last year. In May, 2010, Brandon was shot to death. He is sorely missed by family, friends, and hundreds of students who looked up to him.

Brandon Franklin passed away six months ago today. If Brandon Franklin and Dinerral Shavers were both still alive, if two other young men had had horns in their hands instead of guns, we'd be watching Mr. Shavers and Mr. Franklin on course to be the best two band directors in New Orleans. RIP Brandon Franklin.

It's messed up that a man had to die just taking care of his Child. Same for Dinerral. Those guys meant alot to the Band Culture of New Orleans.
