Work on tone and balance. Tubas and trumpets need to fatten up their tone when it gets in the upper register. Mellophones are kool. It's really easy for tbones to get badly out of tune. They should work on playing "fuller" instead of blasting. I'm sure the parade formation probably was a part of the balance problem so, no biggie.
