The Honda Battle of the Bands was created to celebrate, support and recognize the excellence of Black college marching bands and the unique academic experience offered by Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Honda annually awards more than $205,000 in grants to participating marching bands during the program period. Honda Battle of the Bands is in its 11th year and we look forward to many more.
There are two components to the Honda Battle of the Bands:
Honda Battle of the Bands Celebration Tour, presented by Verizon (September through November 2012)
Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase At the end of the Celebration Tour, eight bands advance to the Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase. The Invitational Showcase features musical performances from these eight HBCU marching bands.
