SO FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS THESE 2 ASSISTANT BDs HAVE BEEN IN FRIENDLY, BUT VERY INTENSE, WAR TYPE BATTLE... BUT ITS ALL BUSINESS NOW... WHO WILL TAKE THE W.... THESE 2 BANDS WILL BE JUDGED ON WHO WORKS THE HARDEST TO PREPARE THEIR BAND FOR THE LABOR CLASSIC... LETS GO!!! WHO WILL IT BE? GIB or GORDON...

As always it will depend on "WHO" is doing the judging. Some folks dont know what to listen/watch for.
consistently good sound quality (all tunes sound good, not just a few).
good overall balance (hear all sections clearly)
good attacks and releases. (no hangovers)
good articulation, dynamics
good song selection.(no old wore out tune from previous years.)
overall entertainment. (field drill, crowd reaction)
Everybody say Ocean....OCEAAAAN!, Now leave way back and say SOOOOOOULLL,...SOOOOOOOOUUUUUULLLLLLLL!!!
I mean really should this be a topic. We already know that
Oceans create storms and Drown them as well!!!!!!!!!!!.....Lets talk about their second week!
Real talk, both programs have grown and evolved really well in different areas. This may be a really good battle for both. I cant take anything away from the Marching Storm, and I hope the Ocean dont take them Lightly or have that nonchalant attitude about them. I heard really good things about both so far, so I'm really looking forward to a great season for both bands. Good Luck Ocean and Storm and may the best band WIN!!!!
Back at Topic, Gip and Gordon both are very talented dudes. I know Gordon have the edge a bit because he is an actual product of the Storm...so with that being said He should have it in his hands, but we all know that the Ocean dont need their own to live up to its name. If they can hold it down with 60 and two assistants that knew nothing about the Ocean, then i dont think they would have a problem now. Gip will continue to do what he do best and it will show in the performance.
I'm a native Houstonian, and both bands are great.. I'm a product of the Ocean but I'm a unbiased dude... If u have ever been to a Txsu Practice then u know who is running things... Pvamu has a great balance and blend, and they don't try to over step their boundaries... Which I sort of like.... But when it's all said and done not of these Gentleman will be on the podium in full control.... But I will say this, Gip is in beast mode this year and Txsu will be a no BS Band! But I do know that PV can never be under estimated... So beware.. This will be a nice battle..
05, 06, 07, 08, 09 Ocean has got the W .... I have high respects for Both Gibson and Gordan ,but for 2010 Im hearing good things from both sides will just have to see what happens on both the BOTB and The Classic! best of luck to both bands...
