High School Students, College Students, Alumni and All, get inside this....

Do you really think that schools with two different styles can compete against each other..

I am a Freshman at the University of Central Arkansas, do you think we could compete with other HBCU...

Here is a Clip of UCA

Now A Clip of TXSU

Compare those two bands, which one has the better overall tone, now I choose to attend UCA over any other HBCU, but im from the state of Mississippi and came from a Showstyle band...

You Can Add Clips To Show Some Comparisons...

  • No they can't. They're two different styles and therefore can't be judged on the same scale.
(Not counting basic things like tone quality and articulation. Those are basics that can't specifically be competed with. Either it's good or not.)
  • before even looking at the clips.....no

just because two different styled bands play the same song doesn't mean they can compete against each other....its a whole different mindset with PWC's versus HBCU's....i kno....i attended one.....
  • Im not sure if being a hbcu or a pwc is an excuse for why a band sounds the way it does. As far as MUSIC goes......it doesnt matter what style. GOOD TONE is GOOD TONE & BAD TONE is BAD TONE. I think both could be judged on the same level of music. Marching is a different story. I got this idea in my head that a hbcu band is playing something that clearly sounds bad, but we tell ourselves its ok, we are an hbcu marching band!....lol!
  • LOL how many times do we have to have this discussion? We played two PWC's in 08, UCA and HSU, and there was no comparison...at all.
