  • That melody sounds horrible at the beginning....Yall ever heard of "listening across the section" or "band"? That part was extremely out of tune.
  • Funkfactorypc98 EWF made this song original when they created it. Come up with something else other than that. This is an arrangement of the original song is what it is. The only reason you have this bias is because SU played the song first despite the fact they didn't play it in the song's original key. The only leg you all have to stand on is that SU played it first. And it's not that people aren't use to SCSU playing it, it's you SU folks who aren't used to it. You all simply need to get used to it, get over it, and move on. I've listened to the original song and was impressed by the way both bands play it, but I prefer the version that sounds like the original without having to guess what the song is. This is that version. Because now I know exactly what the original sounds like. So the only reason folks like you make comments like the one you did is because you can't handle the fact that SU didn't and don't have a staple on this song. To be honest when I first heard SU play it, I thought it was the original until I actually heard the original. So when SCSU played it, I thought, this is how the song is supposed to sound. When SU played it, I wondered what the song was, but when SCSU plays it, I actually know what it is without having to guess. Anytime any band plays a song, I listened keenly to see if the song is recognizable compared to the original and when SCSU plays a song, you know what it is without having to guess. So despite the obvious slights from commentators like yourself, the folks at this BOTB where SCSU debuted this rendition, absolutely loved it, didn't you hear the applause and praise during and at the end of it? If not, check one of the other band sites for a longer clip of this same peformance. That's what you call true identity. Capturing the essence of the actual song. This is what SCSU did. (Hall of Fame BOTB in the ATL is where this occurred). Excellent job 101.
  • Who cares Southern made it original and thats all the people want to her is the U play it. Some songs you just don't mess with. Its really a copy arrangement of the U but all you all did was change the instrumentation in the arrangement. Don't sound bad just is not what the people are use to. Try bringing out another song get you own identity. SU blazed this joint and this song is history.
  • Might I add, the crowd at this battle loved it as well.
  • For all you who are on the SU band wagon as far as this song goes, you need to go back and listen closely and carefully to the original and see which band plays this song like the Earth, Wind, & Fire original. Yes, Southern played it first and this is why most of you are used to only their rendition probably because you haven't heard the original song. I say again, listen to the original. This version sounds like the original. Southern's doesn't but I still like what they did with it.
  • even more reason why i say southern sets the bar for bands and song selection
  • DAYYYYUM they got a lot of tubas! I just noticed LOL
  • Some songs u should just admit defeat to before you try to play it! 4 real
