Now chile you need to stop lol The Settes got their influence from a male twirler aka Hollis Pippin. LOL If you look back at old footage the Motion style was nothing like it is today which is/was indeed influenced by the Settes. And that is the history told by the coordinator of the then Majorette director who fought for them to be able to put down their batons and dance, none other than Mrs. Shirley Middleton herself.
bawhahaha since when? The Sette style is and has always been theirs. And no I am taking it up with the person who created this bogus post trying to gain clout. LOL Keep trying.

Why you so mad for? Lmaoooo naw the Settes don’t look like they used to! They damn near look like Alcorn.I love the Settes but let’s be honest lol. They’re a cross between Alcorn and the stingettes. They don’t look NOTHING like the vintage Jsettes. Keep that lie. But you can stay mad tho. I’m just stating what Alumnae JAY-SETTE Evelia Jones said. Not from my mouth lol. Go take that up with her.
HAPPY 50th MOTION
LOL.......
LOL I am checking who mad? See now I know you that you know nothing of what you speaking. Alcorn GGs have actually begun to look more like the Settes because of them toning down their dance style and alot of the Sette modeled community dance teams joining their team and changing the style up. If you look at the original GG style they used to hump not buck. Those sisters used to hump low and scrub the ground. Also the Stingette style has become more softer but their style is a mix of Sette/Doll check the old clips this will be proven also. Next?

So is Evelia lying because that post came from the Villager Awards and not Juz Miguel, He indeed didn't make that up... But I think people really need to look at the definition of influence.. Sheila Mouton was the first Motion Captain in 1969 the Jaycettes came in 71 either way it goes the concept on the hbcu level started with Alcorn so they are the grandmothers
Idk why the children think I am the one that’s saying this. Lol. One of their own is saying this’ we know Golden girls, Dolls and Motion are the eldest squads
Not saying she lying but words are construed some. The Settes were around as Majorettes then before putting down their batons and dancing fully in 1970 when Shirley assemble the girls. Now I am sure the inspiration to want to dance and not twirl came from the earlier dance teams. However their dance style was influenced by Hollis, Shirley, and later Mrs. Oatis.
Also the name SBOT was given by Students in the band during that time.
